The Museum of The City of San Francisco    Here is a wonderful resource for all kinds of history about San Francisco, with emphasis on our disasters, great fires and terrific Fire Department!  Much of what appears in my articles (in the weekly newsletter) is researched or verified here. Added October 1, 2002

St. Francis Hook and Ladder Society They are the curators of the SF Fire Museum, both on the net  and in real life.  If in San Francisco, be sure to visit the museum at Station 10 (Pine and Presidio).  Absolutely fascinating!  Check out their site for more details and times that the museum is open.  Tell them I sent you.  There's no reward for doing so, but you never can tell what good might come of it! Convention and Visitor's Bureau  Planning a visit or business meeting in my fair City?  Welcome!  Whatever you're looking for, you are sure to find it here in town - except for hot, blazing sun!  The Visitor's Bureau has lots of info. 

The Portals Page  The Portals Tavern is a nice little San Francisco watering hole, and the one I usually stop by when going out for a cocktail.  If you look really hard, you might find a picture of "The Gear Wizard" singing on Karaoke night!  A nice place to visit, and easy to get to via the Metro K, L or M lines from downtown.  Just exit at the West Portal Station and walk along West Portal for 1-1/2 blocks (to 179 West Portal)..  If you're visiting, be adventurous and give it a try,,,   Hey, I met the SFFDGear.com Supermodel there!  (Feb. 3, 2003, May 6, 2003)
